The school

Our surf school

The school was founded to the effort of a group of friends, who have not only grown up sharing friendship, but love for the sea and surfing.

The team

Nano

Fernando "Nano" Villamil, as everyone knows him, is one of the founders and the current manager of the school. Being a native of Tapia de Casariego, he not only has a vast experience in the field with many years as a monitor, but has been practically surfing his entire life. Nano has known how to grow with sports and is able to transmit the passion for the practice of surfing and bodyboarding, a sport that has also occupied a large part of its time in the water. His growing interest in photography adds another incentive to school.

Nathan

Nathan is an Australian who fell in love with an Asturian girl and followed her, and his heart to the beautiful west coast of Asturias. He was introduced to the ocean at a very early age and lived his life around it ever since. He has travelled extensively, and almost all of the travels were for the purpose of learning and enjoying new cultures and surfing new waves. He has surfed most of the Australian coast, New Zealand, Indonesia, India, Sri Lanka, U.S.A, Mexico and Central America and parts of Europe. He has been Surfing for close to 30 years, and although loves shortboard surfing, appreciates riding waves on almost any surf craft can be fun, and FUN is the most important aspect of it!! He completed his Level 1 Surf Coach Award with the ASI Academy (Academy of Surfing Instructors) in Wollongong, Australia..Nathan also has a superstition....whenever he enters the Ocean to play, he always picks up as much rubbish as he can find on the walk back up the beach, good karma for good waves!!

Raquel

Raquel is the girl from the monitor team. Born in Castropol, she started surfing at the age of 6 at this school, and since then she has not stopped: at 19 she has competed at the national level and traveled to many countries in search of waves, she always manages to establish a strong connection with the children, and transmitting to them the passion for this sport is what makes me always be with a smile.

The spot

Our school is located on the beach of Peñarronda, in western Asturias, between the councils of Castropol and Tapia de Casariego. It is one of the best known areas for surfing at national level where important and internationally renowned championships take place, such as the GoannaPro during Holy Week.

The beach of Peñarronda, in addition to its beauty, stands out for its dunes, protected by its unique flora in Asturias (sea alhelí) and for having very good conditions for surfing.

Our facilities are located in the auxiliary parking of the Playa de Peñarronda (behind the campsite).
